The Noon Number
3 - The number of Bruins currently ranked in the top four among plus/minus rating for the season. Tyler Seguin leads the league with a +33, while Zdeno Chara and Patrice Bergeron are tied for third with +27 ratings.
It's been touched on before in the space, but revisited again today after yesterday's game that saw Seguin finish +2 and both Chara and Bergeron +3 on the afternoon. Expanded on even further, Boston has six of the top 10 plus/minus players in the league, with Boychuk, Kelly and Marchand all at +24.

I find it impressive that it’s Seguin at the top. We all know his offensive skills, but this shows he’s pulling his weight on the back end as well.
In Memoriam: Dan Wheldon 1978-2011
Exactly my thoughts – a reflection of his and his line’s two-way play, esp with Bergy tied for third.
Johnny Boychuk - The infamous bottle of $100,000 champagne, I thought it was meh.

Agreed.
I think the other positive is the way that CJ brought him through his first season. He held him highly accountable for his defensive mistakes and obviously Seguin has taken the lesson and applied it this year.
They did it for Savy, they did it for Horton, they did it for each other, they did it for us. I give you the 2011 Stanley Cup Champions....The Boston Bruins!!
My Lions lost to the Saints who are clearly the better team. (This is what happens when you back your team and they lose),
So....with
Zach Hamill being scratched for the Capitals game, that the Zach Hamill experiment is ending for this year?
Always trade value but I wouldn’t expect more than a 5th for him or some equally underperforming prospect.

Sometimes, players blossom in other systems.
Would be nice to get something back for Zach…
Agreed. Teams are usually willing to trade something for talent… even if the player hasn’t lived up to it yet. Just look at the Pouliot-Latendresse trade.

It’s not too crazy to think Hamill could work out elsewhere; it would be great to see them swap him for…………………… something.
Kick his ass, Seabass!
Maybe we can trade Hamill for
some hockey sticks and hockey pucks to practice with. Maybe the other teams will throw in some milkcrates as well, with Tuukka you an never have too many of those… :)
Just kidding, but I think I recall a player being traded in baseball this past year for some bats or was it baseballs? Talk about making someone feel worthless…
Okay, so, if he makes it through waivers, he goes back to Providence, right?
What happens if someone claims him, do we get anything for him?
nada. but i’d doubt he gets snagged.
Best case scenario, he gets a late round draft pick in a larger trade package, but given the waiver circumstances, I can’t envision him get anything in a standalone
If I am not mistaken, wouldn’t Hamill have to be kept with the big club if he were claimed on waivers? Since the whole issue is that he has to clear waivers to return to the AHL.
Assuming this is true, there is still the possibility that some team would part with a low pick/prospect for him so long as they could leave him in the AHL.

He would be on the NHL roster and normally have to be cleared once again should that team want to send him down to their AHL affiliate. However, I was checking Capgeek and their waiver calculator indicates he still has 60 games and one year before waivers became mandatory. I find that odd. And wonder, should he be claimed, if the numbers remain in affect or are they nullified?
Here’s an outline of the waiver rule: http://thehockeywriters.com/nhl-waiver-rules/
Since there’s not a link post today, I’ll post this here regardless of its lack of relevance:
CoolHockey is running a 30 buck jersey customization deal. Though I’d give a heads up if anyone’s in the market, they did a real nice job on a home Thomas for me.
Downside: the jerseys themselves can be had cheaper elsewhere.

Are we going rogue? He’s two non-relevant post that some might enjoy.
