Yup got a crew of 6 going to the Islanders game and 4 at the Rangers game. Couldn’t get the same section for a reasonable price though.

boyes and girls
any brad boyes reference is a good one.
You wanna leave Saturday am, that way we don’t have to pay for two nights of lodging, or would you rather go Friday so that we aren’t rushing on Saturday?
Kick his ass, Seabass!
if we leave Saturday am we’ll have to pretty much go direct to the game

A couple hotel suggestions
Brooklyn Super 8 (Park Slope) – Cheap as hell, decent-ish location (you won’t be mugged and there’s good bars around), fairly new building, so it shouldn’t be totally shitty yet.
Sheraton Downtown Brooklyn
– Brand spanking new, middle of downtown, so near every train
Hotel La Jolie – In spite of boutique-y the name, basically an econo-lodge, but in the heart of hipster Willliamsburg. For you Ference fans
Flatiron Hotel – Also brand new, in Manhattan, decent reviews, best location evar. Walking distance to MSG. Strangely under 200 bucks right now
No clue about parking, probably a bitch or with a fee at all of these
So
per the TIME TO PAY THE PIPER post, the fieldtrippers are:
The fieldtrippers:
TomServo42 + 1 (2 for isles) (not traveling, not staying in a hotel)
Cornelius Hardenbergh
Losted125 + 2
phoneymahoney + 2
Dave Carignan
DanglesMcDonnybrook
not sure if Dave or Dangles ended up being on the trip for real.
seats for rangers game: Section 103, Rows 23-24, Seats 1-4
seats for islanders game: section 335 (weird, never sat in the balcony at islanders games before)

No where good, count us out on that one. I know we booked a room at the place across from the Nassau and a Marriott about 2 blocks from time square.

If you find yourselves in the area of 3rd ave and 43rd stop into Muldoons. Pretty divey but I love it there.
Keep Calm and Tim Tom
There seem to be a couple of big questions here for the crew going with us
1. Drive to LI early Saturday morning or Friday night?
a. where to stay friday night?
2. Stay in NYC or Nassau after the Islanders game? (I say go to NYC since there’s a lot more to do there, but whatever)
3. Drive back Sunday after the game or monday?
I found this place: http://www.hostelworld.com/hosteldetails.php/Accommodation-Alternatives-NYC/New-York/34457?sc_sau=rt&sc_pos=1
Which is like a super-hostel or something, I’m not sure but it looks alright. It’s budget-esque but I’m sure there are cheaper spots around.

1. I’m up for doing things as cheaply as possible, so Saturday morning sounds better to me, but either way works (although I was told that it’s unlikely I’ll get that Friday off).
a. If we do go Friday night, I’m up for staying at the cheapest place we can possibly find… as long as it’s not a place where we’d be murdered in our sleep.
2. I’m guessing there’s a lot more to do in NYC, but am wondering how much more cashmoney we’re talking about hotel-wise. I’m up for it though.
3. I’d prefer Sunday, but I’m off Monday, so it doesn’t matter too much.
Have we figured out how we’re getting there?
Kick his ass, Seabass!
by phonymahoney on Feb 13, 2012 8:57 AM EST up reply actions
so it’s about a 40 mins drive from nass to NYC
game one is at 1pm vs the isles on saturday
it’s like a 4 hour drive let’s call it 5 1/2 for shits and giggles
I mean hell leave call it 5 am? 6am at the latest on saturday morning go straight to the island for the game then spend the night around that area then leave in the AM park in the City walk around till game time watch game profit? then walk around after till when ever we feel like leaving and then head back up this way?
just an idea don’t care let me know!
HOCKEY TEMPER
That sounds good to me – then we aren’t spending a ton on rooms, AND we don’t have to take Friday off/get out early/whatever.
So what are we doing vehicle-wise? My car is a no-go for a long drive like that (honestly, I don’t think I’d go further than 2 hours without being nervous, haha), but obvs I’m willing to chip in for a rental/gas/tolls/a chaffeur/a bicycle built for two/rollerskates/hang gliders/other strange modes of transportation.

My thought is that I’m not going to want to be stuck in Nassau from 4pm to the next morning. I’m pretty sure the only thing to do there is get drunk at the hotel bar next to the arena. Seriously, it’s a wasteland.
A double room would be like 169 a night plus fees. We can pay that much and stay somewhere that’s mta-accessible if not in NYC proper and have a lot more available to do Saturday evening.

No, it’s all good. I checked it out, there’s a bus from Penn Station that goes to Nassau Coliseum, and it takes like an hourish (oir two, I can’t remember, I just know it wasn’t absolutely ridiculous and I would make it)…. also, my friend is coming, so we’ll figure something out (I forgot about her, tbh! Is that mean?). Thanks for checking, though!
