Previous winners of the Masterton include Bryan Berard, who returned to the game after being blinded in one eye by Marian Hossa, Mario Lemieux, who we all know beat cancer and continued his career, and Jose Theodore, who excelled in 2009-10 despite dealing with the death of his infant son Chace. Then you have Cooke, whose only adversity to overcome was his own obnoxious play. It's a mockery of everything the Masterton trophy stands for and an embarrassment to the legacy of the Penguins. Truly amazing.
