In what continues to be a busy week on the player development side, the invaluable Kirk Luedeke of the New England Hockey Journal is reporting that the Bruins have signed NCAA UFA D Torey Krug of Michigan State. Krug, a junior out of Livonia, MI, scored 23 goals the past two seasons, and finishes his collegiate career with 83 points. The 5'9" 175lb defenseman was the Spartans captain as well as a two time CCHA first team All-Star. This season he tied TJ Tynan for the CCHA scoring title, the first defenseman to do so since 1986-87. Because the Spartans were eliminated from the NCAA tournament this weekend, Krug will report to Providence for the remainder of the 2011-2012 season.
That move follows the Bruins officially announcing the signings of two other Michigan NCAA based players, 2010 5th round draft pick Justin Florek, F, of Northern Michigan was signed (and already had a 4 point game in Providence Friday night) as well as 2010 7th round draft pick Zach Trotman, D, of Lake Superior State was signed (and scored in HIS first game with Providence last night).
