Patrice Bergeron assisted on all three Boston goals and then had a moment in the sun of his own, notching the only goal in a shootout to give the Bruins a 4-3 victory over the Buffalo Sabres to wrap up the regular season.
Tyler Seguin scored twice for Boston and Brad Boyes answered for Buffalo, which took a 3-1 lead midway through the third period but was unable to hold it as Seguin and Brad Marchand each tallied to tie the game after 60 minutes.
Seguin's 28th and 29th goals gave him the team lead for the regular season, but Marchand wasn't about to be denied, scoring his 28th as well to tie the game. Patrice Bergeron assisted on all three Boston goals in regulation.
After Buffalo took the 3-1 lead, Boston outshot them 10-1 during the rest of regulation, including the two goals.
Jason Pominville had Buffalo's third goal, his 30th of the season.
The Bruins head into the postseason winners of nine of their last 12 games, a far cry from the inconsistent play that they struggled with during the first ten weeks of 2012.
They will likely open the playoffs on Thursday against either Ottawa or Washington.
