By virtue of an overwhelming amount of secondary and tertiary votes in SBNation's poll of its 33 hockey blogs, Nashville Predators defenseman Shea Weber - trounced by Boston Bruins' captain Zdeno Chara in the first-place voting by a 10-3 margin - was awarded SBNation's rendition of the Norris Trophy today.
Weber, who recorded career highs in plus-minus (+21) and points (19-30 - 49), led the Predators to the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs, where they fell in five games to the Phoenix Coyotes.
The Predators did make it further in the playoffs than did the Bruins, but Chara did two things that Weber couldn't - captained his team to a division title and have the hardest recorded slapshot in NHL history.
For many, this will seem like a minor detail. But let's be honest: all those people suck. Tomorrow, we'll do the Lady Byng trophy.
