(SB Nation) -- The Boston Bruins exited the Stanley Cup playoffs early in 2012 and were unable to defend their NHL title. Although their long offseason has already begun, Bruins management is wasting little time in making sure they retain some key players for the coming seasons.

According to the team, general manager Peter Chiarelli announced two contract signings on Thursday. Daniel Paille has been signed to a three-year contract worth $1.5 million annually that would take the forward through the end of the 2014-15 season. Chris Bourque has signed to a two-year contract through 2013-14 that would pay him $550,000 each year. Bourque's two-way contract would also pay him $200,000 at the American Hockey League level in 2012-13.

Paille has played in three seasons with the Bruins and put together 25 goals and 22 assists in his 186 regular season games with the team. Bourque, meanwhile, came over from the Washington Capitals in a May 26 trade. He has one goal and three assists in 33 career NHL games.
