Wednesday Morning Skate: Don't Watch the NHL Awards Tonight

Eyes on the Prize

The NHL Awards are tonight. Patrice Bergeron is up for the Frank J. Selke Trophy and Zdeno Chara is up for the James Norris Memorial Trophy. Both trophies are awarded based on a poll by the Professional Hockey Writers Association, so I fully expect guys who give good interviews to win every award.

Nickelback is playing the awards show, so I would suggest that you do not watch it. Or have the mute button ready to go, I guess? If you have to. They are awful. Chaka Kahn was better. Why does the NHL keep getting such terrible music acts to play the awards show? It's embarrassing.

Highlight of the Day:

Here's Chara winning the much-deserved 2009 Norris Trophy.
