Summer Project: The All-Time Bruins Jersey Set, part the first

People have asked to see it, so here it is, my new 1989-90 authentic. Two thumbs up.

We can all agree on a few things. June 2011 was epic. Bergeron's Selke should have come a while ago. Matt Cooke should be in the LNAH. And, the Bruins are traditionally one of the best dressed teams in the NHL. Despite breaking the traditional Original Six rule of "never redesign the jersey", the B's have managed to maintain a classic, handsome look with each new incarnation (well, mostly).

One side effect of this is that they have one of the most extensive collection of jerseys in the league, and picking the definitive Bruins look would be difficult. So, it being the offseason, and we being obsessive, that's exactly what we're going to do.

Here's how it will work. We'll start today with nominations. In the comments, post what you feel is the definitive home/alternate/color and away/white jersey for the team. Posting a photo or linking to a page from the Hockey Uniform Database will help. We'll then take the popular suggestions for either category to a vote. "Rec" any jerseys you want to endorse - it will help determine which ones make it. If there are a lot of different nominations, we'll do a preliminary vote to then knock it down to the final 5 in each category, who will then go to a vote for the all-time Bruins home and away jerseys. The remaining 8 will then go to a final vote to choose an all-time alternate.

It will help your nomination's case if you add some explanation as to why you think it's the best. It's also a good excuse to strike up some debate as to what elements make a good hockey jersey, and whether who wore the jersey, or it's era, makes a difference.

So start making suggestions and getting the debate going. We'll give it until a week to make nominations. And feel free to talk logos as well. And don't be surprised if ol' Pooh Bear gets some dap...
