Monday Morning Skate: Blessed With A Bad Contract

Chris Kelly, almost showing excitement, is welcomed to the overpaid-old-guy club by Brian Rolston.

Look, we all know Chris Kelly is getting overpaid for the next 4 years. He had an insane year last year but for a guy who's only scored 15 goals 3 times (at the age of 31) and never topped 40 points, 3 million/year might be a bit much.

But let's be reasonable: It's 3 million dollars a year. It's not like we're riding around with Brian Rolston's Corpse for 5 million or, say, the soulless husk of Mike Komisarek for 4.5. Need I remind you of Scott Gomez's $7,357,143 cap hit?

What I'm saying is that Chris Kelly isn't a completely useless guy. Sure he's going to be overpaid and there's little else to talk about, but let's not get all huffy about it. We have all summer to decide we hate each other until CBA negotiations fall through and we can start hating the league and the PA.

Nevermind that Jay McClement got half that. But can Jay McClement do this?
