As you head into the Garden to go to the game or maybe just hang in the area - please take a minute to maybe give your bartender or waitress a little something extra. The area businesses love Bruins fans. It's an whole other animal with the shootyhoop crowd simply can't drink like us and they don't tip like us. Some of these businesses are still recovering and repairing credit from 04/05 lockout. These business were not able to hire for extra staff. A lot of these folks work elsewhere during the summer and had no job or drastically reduced hours to come back to. While we as fans suffered waiting for hockey - really it cost us in emotion, we saved money in game tickets, parking, concessions, pregaming and postgaming (some people do that!) These folks had to figure out how to make ends meet.
While Bettman and Fehr engaged in a 4 month pissing contest - there were staffs that had no opportunity to work in Europe. It's unfortunate and it's the ugliest side of the lockout.
These businesses and more importantly these servers are missing out on 19 home games. That's a lot of money - and you know that if you've waited tables or if you've tended bar - you know the difference between a Monday Night with nothing going on and a night there's a good game on TV.
So on Saturday - throw these folks a little extra if you are able.
In an effort to #makewhole the barstaff of the North Station area - we'll be planning a few away games to watch at our unofficial official home base bar : The Fours on Canal Street.
We'll start with Wednesday's game a second match up against the New York Rangers. Come join us, have a Bobby Orr, have a beer, have some fun with other awesome Chowder Folk.
