Jaromir Jagr traded to the Bruins for Lane MacDermid, Cody Payne, and a conditional second round pick

According to Bob McKenzie and those fuckers at TSN, the Bruins have acquired active NHL points leader and all-around mulleted badass Jaromir Jagr.

Given up in the trade for Jaromir Jagr were Lane MacDermid and Cody Payne, along with a conditional second round pick, which will become a first-rounder if Boston wins two playoff series. It's not ~OFFICIAL~ yet, but Dallas doesn't have Feaster, so I think we're good. ETA: IT'S OFFICIAL. YEAAAAAAAAAAAAH

MacDermid, largely projected as nothing more than a fourth-liner, has no points in eight career NHL games - but 15 PIMs in three fights. The 23-year-old winger has 17 goals and 29 assists in 249 career games in the AHL. Payne, a 19-year-old center playing for Plymouth of the OHL, is on a similar track to MacDermid - projects as a potential NHL third or fourth liner, no more. In three OHL seasons, he has 32 goals and 46 assists in 191 games played, including playoffs.

Jagr has 14 goals and 12 assists - 26 points in 34 games so far this year for Dallas - and more goals than anyone else on the Bruins except Brad Marchand, also with 14. All-time, he has 679 goals and 1,000 assists in 1,380 games played.

The major difference between what's being paid for Jagr and what could potentially have gone for the Iginla trade is that the likelihood of Jagr re-signing in Boston after this year's Cup run is slim to none, where the Bruins could have gotten potentially one or two more years out of Iginla. Chiarelli is a smart man to not trade actual valuable assets for a player that could end up playing fewer than 20 games in a Bruins uniform. (Hopefully more, but...worst-case scenario.) Additionally, Dallas didn't have many options - they aren't making a playoff push, they weren't going to re-sign Jagr anyways, so might as well get a few prospects and a pick out of it.

Jagr scored his 1000th assist a few days ago. He's played with David Krejci in the past (Olympics), he does that cool awesome salute thing, Jay Pandolfo will be in the press box, Horton will probably move to the third line, Jamie Tardif will have to pick a new number if he ever plays for Boston again

That settles it. If Zdeno Chara likes the deal, I'm all for it. COMING FOR YOU, PITTSBURGH.

Let's watch some tape:
