Now that all the dust has settled, a loss to the Ottawa Senators leaves the Boston Bruins second in the Northeast Division behind Montreal, fourth in the Eastern Conference, and and fifth in the NHL overall. So... Hello, Leafs, as the Bruins push the playoffs reset button.

After the loss to the Ottawa Senators, the Boston Bruins open the playoffs facing the Toronto Maple Leafs at TD Garden on Wednesday, May 1st, 7pm.

  • Dennis Seidenberg had a goal and assist and was named second star of the game. Rich Peverley scored on a pass from Wade Redden. [NHL]
  • It seems after all that the game "didn't matter." Before the game, regular-season awards were presented. Winners included Patrice Bergeron (both the Eddie Shore Award and Elizabeth Dufresne Trophy) and Gregory Campbell (John P. Bucyk Award) [ESPN]
  • The play of Kaspars Daugavins (#GhostDog) earned praise (those of us listening to Jack Edwards on NESN may have noticed first...) [BostonHerald]
  • Tyler Seguin will be under the microscope, both for the Phil Kessel trade, and for his recent cool stretch. Milan Lucic took on Chris Neil and made the assist on the Seidenberg goal. With the return of Jaromir Jagr and Nathan Horton, what will the lineup be? [Boston Herald]
  • At least the Bruins have been consistent. Not in a good way. [WEEI]
  • Expect the usual story lines. "Thank You, Kessel." Tyler Seguin playing his hometown team. Shawn Thornton asserted that other than the Flyers game, the team is playing the right way. Claude Julien is calling for the team to get their noses dirty in front of the net. Tuukka Rask will need to stand on his head. [ESPN]
  • In a nutshell, the five points that will determine the outcome of the Bruins/Leafs series. [ESPN]
  • Here's another take on five key points for the series. Can the Leafs "return to template?" [TSN]
  • Here's an opportunity to get to know Anton Khudobin, number one goalie of Kazakhstan, a bit better. [NewEnglandHockeyJournal]
  • And to the unsung Garden "bull gang" that managed a turnaround from overtime Celtics parquet to Bruins ice with minutes to spare... the surface was good, and THANK YOU! [@NaokoFunayama]
  • And BTW, however they got there, the Bruins welcome you to TD Garden with a proud banner. [@NHLBruins]

And elsewhere around the rink...

  • Ever wonder about the wizards behind the curtain? Red this account of a day in the life of an NHL off-ice official. [RawCharge]
  • Healing through hockey- another fan's takeaway from the bombing and aftermath. [BackyardHockey]
  • Thirty thoughts from Elliotte Friedman. [CBCSports]
