STOP THE PRESSES A TRADE HAS BEEN MADE

The Bruins, at 12:20PM on Trade Deadline Day, get the dubious honor of making the first trade of the day with the Chicago Blackhawks - a minor league deal that sends prospect Maxime Sauve to Chicago for Rob Flick.

Flick, a fourth-round pick by the Blackhawks in 2010, has spent parts of the last two seasons with Rockford of the AHL; he also spent time in the ECHL with Toledo last year. Known more for his fighting ability than his scoring skills, he comes from a Rockford team that is essentially out of the playoff run in the west. What this trade does, essentially, is fill the role vacated by Lane MacDermid yesterday in the Jagr trade; additionally, Sauve becomes expendable with the return of Jared Knight from injury, slated to happen Friday.

With the now-defunct Mississauga-St.Mike's Majors, Flick gained a significant amount of playoff experience, and should at least bring that knowledge to Providence for their inevitable playoff run this year.

Maxime Sauve was the Bruins' second-round pick in 2008. A native of Tours, France, Sauve played four years in the QMJHL for the Quebec Remparts and Val d'Or Foreurs - his Foreurs lost to Jordan Caron's Rouyn-Noranda Huskies in the first round of playoffs in both their last years in the Q.

Following his time in the Q, Sauve jumped to the AHL at the end of the 09-10 season; since then, he's played 158 games over two and a half seasons. He's struggled through several injuries in his time in the AHL, including a fairly severe concussion last season. He played one game in the NHL last year for Boston.
