Horton & salary cap

Hello folks,

I've been perusing capgeek a lot in order to try to figure out what the B's are going to do this summer. During the reg season I was resigned to thinking Horton to likely not be re-signed before July 1 (or whatever the UFA date is this yr). However, he has proved again to be a player who's capable of stepping up a notch or two come playoff time and there is no pending UFA forward capable of filling his skates for the same money.

Here's what the team is likely looking at:

-re-sign Horton for ~4 mil,

-re-sign Rask for 4.5 - 5 mil,

-bring up Spooner

-re-sign Khudobin to ~1 mil or bring up Svedberg (also 1 mil),

-maybe re-sign Redden for ~1 mil or bring up Bartkowski (.65) or Krug (1.7 mil) full-time,

-maybe re-sign Daugavins for ~1 mil,

-place Savard on LTIR,

-let Ference, Pandolfo, Johnson, Jagr go UFA

If all the above is done, according to my calculations it would still require the team to trade away ~ 3 mil in salary for prospects or draft picks, thus Kelly, Peverley, or Johnny Rocket (hopefully not the latter).

Does this sound about right? I'd like to hear some alternatives if anyone cares to comment.
