Johnson gets first Bruins shutout, Bruins down Oilers 4-0

Extra Skater Stats

Ben Scrivens deserves a lot of credit. After a 59-save night against the San Jose Sharks, he came into TD Garden today and gave the Bruins fits through 22 minutes - and 22 shot attempts. It took a huge scramble in front of the net and David Krejci finding some open space by the hashmarks to break Scrivens' shutout streak - and even from there, Scrivens kept it a 1-0 game, despite getting next to no help from his teammates.

The Bruins scored three very quick goals in the third period, and the game ended 4-0 - with the Bruins outshooting Edmonton 41-22. The shots on goal pretty accurately reflect zone time - it seemed like the Bruins were in the Oilers' end for most of the game, getting a ton of opportunities, but just couldn't get past the Oilers' last line of defense.

The Good:

- Dougie Hamilton is riding a two-game goal streak, after beating Scrivens with a slick wraparound goal in the third period. Must be the hair.

- Carl Soderberg extended his points streak to four games with a goal and an assist tonight; he now has 8 goals and 20 assists on the season. Thanks, St. Louis!

- Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron dismantled the Oilers' power play, getting more chances than the Oilers on every PK.

- Torey Krug got himself on the scoresheet again, putting him right behind Zdeno Chara and Erik Karlsson in total goals by a defenseman.

- That Andrew Ference tribute was pretty excellent.

- Chad Johnson shutout! Oh, and he also said hi after the game.

The Bad:

- Wow, the Oilers look like a JV team.

- Really there wasn't much to say condemning the Bruins today. They were playing against an extremely low quality team with an excellent goaltender, and everything that happened reflected exactly that.

- Loui Eriksson had a goal disallowed, that was pretty dumb.

The Interesting:

-  Chad Johnson's record in black and gold is now 10-3-0. We take back all our hatred, Chad Johnson!

Notable Moments:

Loui Eriksson can count to potato!
