This weekend, the new NASCAR Chase begins in the land of mobsters and elevated trains. Well, the suburbs of that, anyhow. As a quick reminder: there are 16 drivers in the Chase now. After the next three races, the top 12 advance (although a win automatically advances you). Three more races, then the top 8 advance. Three further races, the top 4 advance, and then Homestead is a one race winner (well, highest finisher) takes all finale. Remember when winning the Cup required consistency and excellence throughout the NASCAR season? No?
Elsewhere, in Beijing, Formula E gets off the ground and the world gets it's first taste of international electric formula-style racing. No one knows what to expect, but there's a great preview with Dario Franchitti over at Racer.com that covers all of the teams. One make series tend to be unpredictable, so the racing could be incredibly close. It's on at 3:30 AM Saturday on Fox Sports 1, so set your DVRs.
Prediction time! Who wins Chicagoland, and who wins the Chase?
