Bruins in on Former Caps GM McPhee?
Multiple sources confirmed over the weekend that former 17-year Capitals general manager George McPhee interviewed for the GM role with the Bruins. Also drawing interesting Toronto, McPhee was let go in 2013-14 for current Washington GM Brian McLellan. Also known as "GMGM", McPhee joined the Caps in 1997 and drafted such superstars as Alex Ovechkin, Nicklas Backstrom, and the Holtbeast, Braden Holbty, and took the team to eight 40-win seasons. But after a handful of disappointments--several Game 7 collapses followed by missing the Playoffs (sound familiar?)--McPhee was relieved of his duties. Would this be a good pickup for the Bruins? Or was McPhee's success a matter of being handed the best goal-scorer in a generation?
