The Bruins announced today that Marc Savard was placed on the long-term IR with a broken left foot and will be out at least 4-6 weeks. Savard injured the foot in the preseason and has been playing through the injury. He recently re-aggravated it and after tests decided to take some time for it hear. Trent Whitfield was called up from Providence today and will likely replace Savard in the lineup tonight.

According to Fluto Shinzawa of the Boston Globe, this is how the line could shake out tonight:

Marco Sturm - Patrice Bergeron - Michael Ryder
Vladimir Sobotka - David Krejci - Blake Wheeler
Daniel Paille - Trent Whitfield - Mark Recchi
Brad Marchand - Steve Begin - Byron Bitz

Zdeno Chara - Derek Morris
Andrew Ference - Dennis Wideman
Mark Stuart - Matt Hunwick

Let me tell Andrew Ference, one defenseman to another, he should spend more time worrying about going to back to get the puck than to worry about Paul Kelly's ability to do the job as head of the PA. When [Ference] was in junior, I assume he wasn't going to college...so I ask, what makes him so [expletive] smart?! They had a guy like Chris Chelios in that room [in Chicago] who disagreed, told them to wait and think.
Maybe guys like Ference should take time to listen to guys who are older and smarter.
