Well, God bless Howard Baldwin. If nothing else, the man dreams big. What you see here (via the Hartford Courant) is the interior of a proposed $105 Million renovation to Hartford's XL Center, with the intention of scoring an NHL franchise by 2017. Ignoring the return of the Whalers for a second, from personal experiences at Monster Jam, the XL is well past due for a renovation to stay relevant, and this would be a welcome change. Bringing NHL hockey back is still a pipe dream, but doing it with a comparitively low-cost renovation to the existing building would make Baldwin a New England hockey hero.
Make sure you check out the gallery of the arena and planned adjoining plaza and full plan and cost breakdown.
