KPD Report: Chara and Bruins agree to long-term deal

Kevin Paul Dupont of the Boston Globe is reporting that Zdeno Chara and the Bruins have agreed to a long-term contract extension that could be for as long as 6 to 7 years.

Bartkowski assigned to Providence

The Bruins announced today that they have assigned rookie defenseman Matt Bartkowski to the Providence Bruins. Bartkowski will stay with the team until they return to Prague but cannot practice with the team or dress for this weekend's games against the Phoenix Coyotes. The Bruins now have 24 players (including non-roster invitee Brian McGrattan, who is on a professional try-out agreement and spare goalie Nolan Schaefer). So, the only question mark left is whether on or not the B's sign McGrattan. This seems to be pretty much their opening night roster. According to Kevin Paul Dupont of the Boston Globe and Boston.com, this is how the B's lined up in practice today: Wheeler Bergeron Recchi Lucic Krejci Horton Paille Seguin Ryder/Caron Marchand Campbell Thornton/McGrattan Chara Boychuk Stuart Ference Hunwick Seidenberg Bartkowski McQuaid Rask Thomas Schaefer

What Julien has on his hands right now is a team that can’t score, skates without much zip, doesn’t make plays, doesn’t hit very much or very effectively, and most games just goes through the motions like Stepford husbands pushing carts around the Stop & Shop. Other than that, they take a mean team picture. Oh, and they had such a wonderful field trip to Fenway for the Winter Classic.

Miroslav Satan on the ice for Bruins practice

John Bishop of BostonBruins.com is reporting via Twitter that Miroslav Satan is on the ice for Bruins practice at Ristuccia Arena in Wilmington. This is probably a good sign that he has passed the team's physical. According to Kevin Paul Dupont of the Boston Globe, Claude Julien does not expect Satan to play for 7-10 days. Joe Haggerty of CSNNE.com is reporting via Twitter that Satan is likely going to wear #81 for the Bruins. KPD reported that he is wearing a helmet decal with his familiar #81.

KPD: Savard likely to sign extension with Bruins

Kevin Paul Dupont of the Boston Globe is reporting that the Bruins are close to signing Marc Savard to a contract extension.

In the Boston cookbook, most of its tasty concoctions based on defensive ingredients, Kessel is viewed as that little sprig of parsley that makes the plate look better but really doesn’t factor into whether the meal is a true success.
