As expected, the Bruins formally announced that they are placing Marc Savard on the long-term injured reserve list and the veteran centerman will miss the remainder of the season after suffering his second concussion in less than a year.

The Bruins have scheduled a press conference for 2 PM ET at TD Garden to make an announcement regarding Marc Savard. GM Peter Chiarelli, Dr. Peter Asnis and Marc Savard are scheduled to speak to the media at that time. Joe Haggerty of CSNNE.com reported late yesterday afternoon that the Bruins are planning on shutting Savard down for the remainder of the season due to post-concussion symptoms. The press conference will be streamed live on BostonBruins.com and broadcast live on NESN.
