Fluto Shinzawa reported in this morning's Boston Globe that the Bruins may place Peter Schaefer on waivers and assign him to Providence if he clears waivers. Schaefer is making $2.1 million against the cap this season and with Blake Wheeler likely staying up with the big club, the B's need to find a way to free up cap space. No move has been finalized yet, but it looks like Schaefer could be packing up his oddly taped sticks and heading South on 95. Schaefer was a big disappointment last season and failed to meet high expectations. The Peter Schaefer signing was a clear example of Chiarelli overvaluing one of "his guys".
