Eye on the Enemy: Habs hire Jacques Martin as bench boss

The Montreal Canadiens have tabbed former Florida Panthers General Manager Jacques Martin to be the Habs new head coach (because putting a GM behind the bench worked so well this season for the Habs). Martin becomes the 25th coach in Montreal Canadiens' history and the fourth guy named Jacques to hold the position. Good news Habs fans, I think this one even knows how to read.

Martin last coached during the '07-'08 with the Florida Panthers before shifting to the front office full-time. In 14 seasons behind an NHL bench, Jacques Martin has compiled a record of 517-406 -119 (T)-56 (OTL). He was awarded the Jack Adams Award after leading the Ottawa Senators to a 44-23-15 record during the '98-'99 regular season...before being swpet by the Sabres in the first round.

In other news, Bob Gainey indirectly admits that he is an awful coach.
