Old Time Hockey & Clueless Politicians: A Boston Tradition

I was trolling YouTube for some video clips for this site when I came across this gem:

I don't remember this because I was only 3 years old at the time, but apparently in 1986 former Boston Mayor Raymond Flynn wanted to pass a city ordinance banning fights during hockey games in Boston. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that there were probably more serious issues going on in the city of Boston during that time than a few professional athletes in a controlled environment trading punches. Although, it would have been funny to see a couple of Boston's Finest trying to navigate their way across The Garden ice in their freshly polished shoes trying to slap the cuffs on a pair of overgrown goons going toe to toe, all the while avoiding the downpour of depris from the balcony dwellers.
