Peter Chiarelli and the Boston Bruins didn't exactly dive head first into the trade market on Tuesday, but they did make a pair of moves to pick up a couple of blue line prospects. The Bruins sent a conditional 4th round pick to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for the rights to Michigan senior defenseman Steve Kampfer. Later in the day, the Bruins sent Matt Marquardt to Edmonton in exchange for minor league defenseman Cody Wild.
You may know Steve Kampfer as the hockey player, who got jumped by a Michiagn football player or perhaps you know him as the kid who was got jumped by two Michigan State hockey players. The 5'11" 188 lb defenseman has 17 points (2-15-17) in 35 games this season for the Wolverines.
North Providence, RI native Cody Wild has split time between the Springfield Falcons (AHL) and Stockton Thunder (ECHL) this season. The 22 year-old defenseman has appeared in 37 games for Springfield this season with 14 assists. The 6'1" 200 lb blueline spent 3 seasons with the Providence Friars. Wild is a self-described puck-moving defenseman that is more of an offensive-minded defenseman. For more on Cody Wild, check out Cooper & Blue's recent interview.
Matt Marquardt recorded 10 points (1-9-10) in 41 games for the Baby-B's and 3 points (1-2-3) in 9 games for the Reading Royals of the ECHL.
