Bruins call up Hamill & Penner

New, comment

The Bruins have called up forward Zach Hamill and defenseman Jeff Penner from Providence. Both players are traveling with the team to Washington.

Hamill had 44 points (14-30-44) in 75 games for the Baby-B's this year. By most accounts, Hamill had a disappointing season with Providence. Hamill has been looked good in the Bruins development and training camps, so maybe this glimpse of life in "The Show" will serve as motivation for the talented young forward.

This is the third call-up for Jeff Penner, who made his NHL debut against the Toronto Maple Leafs on March 9th (his only appearance with the big club). Penner had 35 points (7-28-35) in 68 games for the Wanna-B's this season.

With the call-ups and a playoff spot locked up, it will be interesting to see if Claude Julien will give some guys the day off on Sunday.
