Stanley_cup_of_chowder_award_medium

It's that time of year again. It's time to hand out the hardware to members of the '09-'10 Boston Bruins. Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for the star-studded pageantry of the 2nd Annual Stanley Cup of Chowder Awards.

....and the winners are...

Chowder Pot
The Chowder Pot is awarded annually to the member of the Boston Bruins who scores the most goals during the regular season.

I'm not even sure I should hand out this award this year since the number is embarrassingly low, but nonetheless Marco Sturm takes home the 'Pot with 22 regular season goals

Marco Sturm

#16 / Left Wing / Boston Bruins

As the season progressed, it became pretty clear: Tuukka's time is now. After splitting time with Tim Thomas at the beginning of the season, Rask secured the #1 spot between the pipes as the Bruins marched towards the playoffs. The rookie netminder finished the season with the NHL lead in GAA (1.97) and Sv % (.931).

Last Year's Winner: Tim Thomas

William Shakespeare Playmaker Award
The William Shakespeare Playmaker Award is awarded annually to the member of the Boston Bruins who is able make his teammates better and can create for others on the ice.

Apr 28, 1986

G A P +/- PIM
2009 - David Krejci 17 35 52 8 26

Krejci was not able to replicate his 73 point campaign from last year, but he was able shake off the lingering effects of off-season hip surgery and a bout with swine flu early in the season to get his game into form late in the season. Krejci led all Bruins forwards with 35 assists (2nd most on the team to Zdeno Chara, who notched 37 helpers). Krejci's playmaking ability was a huge asset for the Bruins in the playoffs. Krejci's wrist injury in Game 3 of the Flyers series proved to be a major momentum swing.
