After falling to the Washington Capitals 3-2 in our nation's capitol on Tuesday, the Bruins were once again downed by the Caps in a 4-1 preseason loss on Wednesday night at TD Garden.

Fans at The Garden thought they were in for an entertaining game when Gregory Campbell and Matt Hendricks dropped the gloves off the the game's open face-off and threw knuckles in a bout that was likely some bad blood from an incident involving Campbell and Alex Ovechkin in last night's game. Unfortunately, it was all downhill from there. (Editor's Note: I tuned in about 2 seconds late and missed the fight. By most accounts, Hendricks put the sweater over Campbell's head and "Soup" went down faster than a 19-year-old girl with daddy issues.)

The Caps built a 4-0 lead on goals from Nicklas Backstrom (2 goals), Andrew Gordon, and Matt Bradley before Mark Recchi finally got the B's on the board with a power play marker at 8:45 of the third period to account for the final score.

Tim Thomas got the start in goal for the Bruins and saw his first game action of the preseason. Thomas played the entire game and gave up 4 goals on 24 shots.

The Bruins will now head to Europe for exhibition games in Northern Ireland and the Czech Republic as they tune up for next Saturday's season opener against the Phoenix Coyotes in Prague, Czech Republic.
