The Providence Journal and Something's Bruin are reporting that Providence Bruins defenseman Matt Bartkowski has been called up to the big club.
Bartkowski turned some heads with his strong play in training camp. The former Ohio State Buckeye has 12 points (4-8-12) in 34 games for the P-Bruins this season. This will be the first NHL call up for the rookie rearguard.
If I had to guess, I would say that the move is due to an injury to Adam McQuaid. McQuaid only took two shifts in the second period last night and did not see the ice at all in the third period.
There has been no official word from the Boston Bruins about the call-up of Bartkowski or an injury to any of the team's defensemen.
