The last time the Bruins and the Lightning met was May 27th in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals. Nathan Horton scored the only goal of the game to win it for the Bruins and send them to the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time since 1990. Last season Boston was 3-1-0 against Tampa Bay including an 8-1 pounding in early December.

- Tuukka Rask is expected to start in goal tonight for the Bruins
- Benoit Pouliot and Matt Bartkowski are the healthy scratches
- The Lightning opened their season last night against the Carolina Hurricanes and won 5-1 with two of those goals coming on the power play
- The last time the Bruins and Lightning played each other, Steven Stamkos got a puck to the face.
- Both Stamkos and Martin St. Louis got two points in their opener
