First things first: a huge thanks to Evan for all of his hard work, making Cup of Chowder a Boston staple (clever pun? I'm not sure, either) and for entrusting me to handle his baby while he's off doing bigger and better things. It's been a pleasure reading the team's commentary on the Bruins, and I can only hope to continue in the tradition that he's started.
It may, I'll admit, be a choppy summer as I work to get a team in place (if you're interested in being a part of that team, please don't hesitate to let me know) that can increase the already high-quality coverage that Evan's established, but we'll do our best not to miss a beat, and will be operating at 100% capacity come September. That said, I sincerely hope that those of you who've been around the past couple years stick around to see what we have in store and those of you who've followed my work at Something's Bruin and/or Sieves the Day will come join in the fun.
Just a couple of things to keep a lookout for:
- Increased coverage of Bruins prospects and the minor-league system
- More streaming audio and video from the Bruins locker room - you know, once we get back to that time of year
- Coverage of Hockey East and Boston-area hockey - because, really, why not? Local hockey was a big thing 20 years ago because of our beloved Bruins, and hopefully it'll continue to grow after this team's most recent adventures.
- 150% more Habs hate - and yes, we've got big plans for that.
All that said, I'm looking forward to getting the ball rolling with Cup of Chowder, and will always welcome your comments/ideas/edits/hate correspondences either here or via email (ryandurling at gmail dot com), Twitter or Facebook.
