Hi, I'm Sarah, and I'll be bringing you your daily dose of randomosity from around the Bruins and NHL blogosphere. Luckily not much went down yesterday, just some dudes getting initiated into the HoF or something. And some contracts. And ...oh, whatever, let's just get on with it.
Bruins News:
- The Boston Sports Museum's 'The Tradition,' now in its 10th year, will honor the Bruins' Willie O'Ree with the Hockey Legacy award. [CBS Local]
- He may have been the Bruins' last pick, going 181st overall in the draft, but Norwegian goaltender Lars Volden is no slouch. Check out this sweet save he made in the Finnish Junior league last year. Just...ignore the score. [Youtube]
- Add another one to the pile - Cornell-bound Bruins fourth-rounder Brian Ferlin is on Twitter. Go follow him and watch as he tweets mundane things about college life next year. [Twitter]
- Duh, our favorite game of the year was obviously the one that won the Bruins the cup - Game 7 against Vancouver. But which game that aired on NESN was your favorite? Go vote. [NESN]
- Our own Nathan Horton made Puck Father's top 10 hockey fights of 2010-2011, a list that includes some nasty scraps from non-NHL leagues. [Puck Daddy]
- Amstel Light is looking for the Bruin that drank one of their products during the renowned team booze-fest at Foxwoods last week, and promises to stock that player's 'day with the cup' with delicious Amstel products. Yeah, I probably wouldn't own up, either. [Yahoo! Canada]
Around the NHL
- Penguins GM Ray Shero has admitted to offering Jaromir Jagr a one-year deal - with a timelimit for Jagr. "Tomorrow is decision day." Oooh. Ultimatums. My favorite. [Post-Gazette]
- The Islanders traded a fourth-round pick to the Canucks for the rights to Christian Ehrhoff. Are there any Germans left in the Western Conference at this point? [NHL]
- The Capitals signed Brooks Laich to a six-year deal. Yay, six more years of tire changing and "I Laich it!" jokes! [Japer's Rink]
- The next Hockey Hall of Fame class includes Joe Nieuwendyk, Doug Gilmour, and Ed Belfour. [Gazette]
- It does not include former Bruin Adam Oates, or the well-deserving Pat Burns. In fact, lots of people got snubbed. [PHT]
Non-hockey link of the day
- Have you all heard of Sporcle? It's the greatest time-waster in the history of the internet. Quizzes forever. This is the hardest one I've ever attempted. If you get more than four of these right, let me know in the comments so I can praise you forever. Science + Geography = failure. [Sporcle]
