Hitting the Links: Faking a Cup Raise Edition

Getty Images

it's Tomas Kaberle's day with the Cup today. I'll be making this joke pretty much from now until the end of time, thanks very much.

In today's links: apparently some DVD came out the other day, Blake Wheeler is like that jealous ex that won't stop talking about you even though he's super jealous of how attractive you are, Nathan Horton's day with the Cup and how it was really uplifting to the people of Dunnville, and quite possibly the greatest non-hockey link I have ever posted on here.

Bruins News
  • Don Sweeney had his day with the Cup before the DVD premiere, and it's really starting to finally sink in: hey, those guys won a Cup, eh? Crazy! [Bruins]
  • So the DVD premiere was pretty awesome apparently. [Bruins]
  • It's not quite working at IKEA, but Ryan Spooner's getting some off-ice work done this summer too - including quite a bit of traveling. [Times Colonist]
  • Day with the Cup in Dunnville! Even though the Cup was late, lots of people showed up and had a fantastic time. [Sachem]
  • The part you may not know: Dunnville's been through a rough go of it lately. [Sachem]
  • Kyle MacKinnon, a center out of Providence College, signed an AHL deal with the P-Bruins yesterday. [Projo]
  • I'm not sure what's going on here; what I do know is that I love it. [Tumblr]

NHL News:

  • Stamkos-watch is over. Boo. Just when it was getting interesting! [Tampa Bay Online]
  • Chris Osgood retires. No one outside of Detroit thinks he's Hall of Fame worthy, right...? [PHT]
  • In lieu of "Ozzy", the Wings will have former UNH netminder Ty Conklin as their backup next year. As a Blues fan, this saddens me deeply. As a BU fan, I laugh at the concept of a UNH guy and a Maine guy being a goalie tandem. INCONCEIVABLE!  [Macomb Daily]
  • The Devils hired the coach that got fired from Florida a few months ago; to "bring stability to the head coaching position." Okay then. [NJ.com]
  • Blake Wheeler wants to use the Bruins' Cup win as motivation; says he's "happy for the guys" but....yeah. Okay. Have fun in Winnipeg.  [NHL]
  • Hockey talent is blossoming in the Sun Belt! this sounds silly, but it's true - while certain midwestern states were no-shows at the draft this year, Florida and California made an unusual showing. [Times]

Non Hockey Link of the Day:

Do you like Katy Perry? Cali Swag District? How about a little Led Zeppelin? Just...click the link and let your eardrums enjoy the greatest mashup ever. And when you're done with that, listen to some of the other ones. I particularly recommend "Whipotage," which is ridiculously good. [DJ Lobsterdust]
