Hitting The Links: U-S-A! U-S-A! Edition

It's not really a secret that I find USA U-20 camp fascinating, especially since a Bruins prospect who isn't even supposed to be there not only surprised everyone by actually being really good at hockey, but also made it all the way through every round of cuts. Brian Ferlin now gets to stay at camp through USA's final game on Saturday. Makes you wonder - is he the first player from Florida to play for an IIHF team?

Also Dennis Seidenberg got his new son, Noah, baptized in the Stanley Cup in Atlantic City yesterday, no big deal.

After the jump,a whole lot of AMERICA and some other stuff, too.

Bruins News:
  • Seidenberg's day with the Cup: totally American. He brought it to Atlantic City, hung out with Colby Cohen, had a fancy VIP party, and baptized his kid in the Cup. Awesome. [NHL]
  • Jesse Connelly hits one out of the park with this piece on an all crazily-named Bruins Dream Team. [Hockey Journal]
  • Tim Thomas will be bringing the Cup to his old high school in Flint on his Cup day, which is August 24. [Mlive]
  • Jared Knight's hometown paper with a piece on Knight's aspirations to play for the USA. [Enquirer]
  • And making it three-for-three on Michiganers in the Bruins' system, here is a piece on Steven Kampfer and winning the Cup. [Fourth Period]
  • Dougie Hamilton, along with Ferlin and Knight, are making splashes at their various camps. Who else could we see play in the WJC from the Bruins' prospect pool? [Something's Bruin]

NHL News:

  • Zero people have been implicated in the Stanley Cup riots in Vancouver, which is a massive fail. [Gazette]
  • The Canucks hope newcomer Owen Nolan will prevent things like Brad Marchand punching Daniel Sedin in the head from happening. I hope Nolan ends up as a glorified Brian McGrattan. We all know how THAT worked out. [Gazette]
  • SO MUCH AMERICA. Here are updates from every level of USA Hockey going on right now, from the U-20 camp to the Ivan Hlinka tourney. [US of Hockey]
  • Boston University's own Charlie Coyle projects to be the most important part of all the trading the Sharks and Wild have done lately. [PHT]
  • Paul Kelly is still mad at the CHL. [Buzzing the Net]
  • What rule should the NHL's R&D camp actually be looking at? Joe Yerdon yelled about this on twitter and then wrote about it. [PHT]
  • The Rangers' options for captain next year include newcomer Brad Richards, which is upsetting to many a Rangers fan. As a completely neutral outsider with absolutely no interest in the situation, I think it should be Ryan Callahan, but I don't count, obviously. [Crash the Crease]

Non Hockey Link of the Day:

  • Oh Tumblr. I have such mixed feelings about you. Today you win, because you've given us this: "On The Bro'd," every sentence of Jack Kerouac's On the Road, retold for Bros. Probably NSFW, totally worth risking that to read this nonsense. [Tumblr]
