There's still pro hockey being played in Boston, at the highest level.
Okay, maybe they play in somerville most of the time, but the Boston Blades are the local franchise of the Canadian Women's Hockey League, or CWHL. They lost the first game of the year (in a shootout to Montreal) but have been tearing it up ever since, riding a 5-game win streak to improve to 5-0-1. Those wins all came against Montreal or Toronto, to boot. Of course, the CWHL only has 5 teams: Boston, Toronto, Montreal, Brampton, and Calgary. Calgary and Toronto are affiliated with their local NHL teams, but Boston is not.
However, Boston may as well be officially affiliated with Team USA. About half the team was on the 2010 Olympic Team, after all.
The Blades next game? Games on the 27th and 28th against Russia (really!) The games are at Veteran's memorial rink in Somerville on November 27th and Lawrence Academy on November 28th.
Happy Tuesday, Everyone!
