Tuesday Morning Open Thread: How to comment

Mr. Bond, you persist in defying my efforts to provide an amusing death for you.
Mr. Bond, you persist in defying my efforts to provide an amusing death for you.

Okay so lets all learn a thing or two about using the comments as well as possible so that we can all get along and nobody has to get banned looks a fool.

Keyboard navigation.

Yes, you can navigate the comments with the keyboard. If this is news to you, your whole world just melted into a comment-frenzy paradise. If it isn't, congratulations! You have read the little blurb above every comment section. It looks like this:

Howtosbnation1-1_medium

That image is blurry (and lame as a result) so I'll just step through the commands:

  • C: move to the next unread comment
  • Shift-C: move to the last unread comment
  • X: mark the current comment as read
  • Shift-A: mark all comments as read
  • Z: mark the current comment as read AND move to the next unread comment
  • R: open a reply to the current comment.
It seems like a lot but it's not difficult once you get the hang of it. For example, here are some comments:

In the picture above, phonymahoney's comment has been read and Birda's are still unread. However, the middle comment there is the "selected" comment. If I hit Z from that comment, it will remove the yellow and move down. If I hit c, it will move down. If I hit X, it will remove the yellow. If I hit R, I will open a reply box and be able to type in a condescending helpful reply*.

Replies are important as we're now getting 100+ comments in the morning thread and as the playoff march continues I think that number will only go up.

There, now that you're all commenting experts go forth and show us what you've got. Lightning tonight.

Non-Bruins Highlight of the night:

Steven Stamkos scored his franchise-record 53rd goal of the season last night but none of them were as pretty as this Jason Spezza dangle.
