The Boston Bruins and Washington Capitals played some extra hockey on Thursday night at TD Garden, but maybe not as much as you'd expect. After neither team was able to get the puck in the back of the net for the first 60 minutes of their first game of the Eastern Conference quarterfinal series, it took just 78 seconds for Boston's Chris Kelly to beat Washington goaltender Braden Holtby to win the game for Boston, giving the Bruins a 1-0 series lead.
Here's video of Kelly's game-winning goal:
It may be the last that we see of Holtby, who was between the pipes in place of the injured Thomas Vokoun and Michael Neuvirth, both of whom aren't terribly far from returning.
Game Two of the series will be played Saturday afternoon at TD Garden in Boston, with the puck dropping just after 3:00 PM. Coverage of the game will be provided by the NBC Sports Network.
