Thursday Morning Skate: What Does Top 6 Even Mean Anyways

Somebody thinks you're a top-6 forward, Chad. How does that make you feel?

One way to figure out which forwards are top-6 is to simply sort forwards by points and snip at #180. Well, that leaves us with Chad Larose at the bottom of top-6 forwards:

Yes, it's flimsy, but this is a 7am post so you'll stay with me for a minute here.

If 32 points is the cutoff for forwards, the Bruins had 9 top-6 forwards last year:

Tyler Seguin, Patrice Bergeron, Milan Lucic, Brad Marchand, Rich Peverley, Chris Kelly, Nathan Horton, Benoit Pouliot, David Krejci.

This also means there shouldn't be any guys scoring 40+ from the third line (except on stupid-good stacked teams like the Bruins).
