Bruins Prospects Roundup Week 2

The week of October 14 - 20

NCAA

Matt Benning (Northeastern University)

Northeastern swept a home-and-home with Holy Cross 3-1 and 5-2 victories. Benning was held scoreless, but he continues to add a threatening element to the Huskies' power play. By the way, Northeastern's off to its best start in 20 years.

Ryan Fitzgerald (Boston College)

BC only played one game this week, but they made it count with a 9-2 thumping of Wisconsin, who entered the week as the number two team in the nation. Fitzgerald contributed a couple of assists to the effort. Also, it was his birthday this week - way to go, Ryan.

Zane Gothberg (University of North Dakota)

North Dakota opened NCHC play with a weekend in Oxford against top-ranked Miami. Gothberg was in net as NoDak pulled off a 4-2 win Friday. He got the start again Saturday, but was pulled midway through the 2nd period after giving up four goals on 15 shots in what ended up as a 6-2 Miami win. The goaltending job is still up for grabs, it'd seem, as neither goalie's really made his case.

Matt Grzelcyk (Boston University)

BU split this weekend with losses to RPI 3-1 and a 7-3 win over Wisconsin, who probably don't care for Boston much these days. Though BU won handily over the Badgers, they were outshot nearly 2-to-1. Grzelcyk accounted for a power play goal and an assist in the victory.

Colton Hargrove (Western Michigan University)

After being blanked twice by Notre Dame last weekend, Western Michigan found its offense at Alaska Anchorage with a 6-2 win and a 3-3 tie. Hargrove played top six minutes both nights contributing an assist in the win and two goals in the draw. As he's not much of a scorer, this may very well have been his most productive weekend of the season.

Ben Sexton (Clarkson University)

Clarkson hosted RIT this weekend winning 4-1 and drawing 3-3. Sexton had an assist each night and even managed to stay out of the box. Here's an article on Clarkson from College Hockey News that's surprisingly light on the Sexton coverage for some reason.

Please take a moment to treasure how awesome European team names - especially the KHL's - are. Chudinov scored a power play goal against Meallurg. SKA is currently tops in the Western Conference and second overall in the KHL.
