The Bruins begin their 90th NHL season tonight against Flortheast division rivals the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Lightning had a rough go of it last year, finishing near the bottom of the Eastern Conference and drafting third overall this offseason. With the departure of former captain Vinny Lecavalier, the Bolts have named Martin St. Louis captain as of yesterday. (Cue: "Go Cats Go!" from Giesse.)

For the Bruins, Carl Soderberg is out with a foot injury. Jordan Caron's last chance begins now. That third line spot could be his to lose if his play improves; he'll play with Kelly and Smith for the time being. Up front, David Krejci appears to be fine, based on reports out of morning skate; he should be good to go with Jarome Iginla and Milan Lucic.

On the back end, looks like as anticipated, Matt Bartkowski will draw out the first game as the seventh defenseman.
