Bruins Prospects Roundup Week 4

CBS Boston

The week of October 28 - November 3

NCAA

Matt Benning (Northeastern University)

It was tough weekend for Northeastern as they lost 4-2 and 4-3 in overtime to Ryan Fitzgerald's Boston College. It was especially tough for Benning, who may have been the worst player on the ice for either team on Friday. His play did improve the following night, but only so much. In fairness, Benning is a freshman and shutting down BC is a difficult assignment for anyone in NCAA, but he was routinely beaten by the Eagles forwards. He'll need to be better in conference games. On a more positive note, Benning wasn't hampered after taking a pretty nasty hit to the head on Saturday.

Ryan Fitzgerald (Boston College)

BC swept Northeastern and Benning with a 4-2 and a 4-3 comeback overtime victory. I got my first chance to see Fitzgerald and I didn't notice him particularly standing out (not a bad thing considering his team is dripping with talent so it's all relative). Fitzgerald did have a goal both nights, though. Friday's was a nicely batted out of the air, while Saturday's ended a beautiful odd man rush on the counter.

Zane Gothberg (University of North Dakota)

North Dakota was swept by St. Cloud State this weekend 3-2 and 3-1. Gothberg was in net both nights for NoDak and made 53 saves. While he wasn't particularly impressive, Gothberg starting both games could be an indicator that he has the upper hand on the starting job.
