After being released by the Sault Ste Marie Greyhounds of the OHL last week, 2013 draft pick Mitch Dempsey has joined the Kitchener Dutchmen, a Jr. B hockey team in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL).
The GOJHL is a 27 team league based in Southern Ontario. It is considered, at least by this list, as one of the top Junior B leagues in North America. Famous Dutchmen alums include Jonathan Cheechoo, Scott Stevens, Scott Walker, Rich Peverley (!) and Mark Scheifele. Kitchener is currently 16-3, good for first in the Mid-Western Conference.
The Dutchmen serve as the farm team for the Kitchener Rangers of the OHL. Dempsey could very well play himself into a call up and revitalize his development (I feel weird writing that about an 18 year old).
