Preview:
Feast your eyes on the Calgary Flames lineup: a collection of rejected healthy scratches from other teams, AHL players from their own system, and rookies who are barely old enough to be in the league. It's not easy to be a Calgary fan; not only do you have to live in the frozen wasteland that is Calgary, but also....man. That lineup. Rough.
The Flames are in 13th place in the West, and their last game was Saturday against the Oilers - a game that they won, 2-1. Reto Berra, a rookie from Switzerland originally drafted by the Blues, was in net; between Berra and Baertschi, Calgary appears to lead the NHL in Swiss players. How interesting. Berra should get the start in net tonight.
Johnny Boychuk should be back in for the Bruins tonight; the team has also recalled Nick Johnson as a 13th forward, as not only are several forwards injured, but also a flu bug is apparently going around the team. GREAT.
Also there's that whole "Iginla returning to the land that shaped and formed him" thing happening. Will the Flames play some sort of "THERE GOES MY HERO" tribute during the game? I certainly hope so.
The Flames haven't beat the Bruins since 2008, a win on Calgary's turf. The last time the Bruins were in Calgary they won 5-0; this will only be the 8th time in the last ten years that the two teams have played each other. In those ten years, the Bruins have outscored the Flames 22-14.
NEVER FORGET:
This guy actually has a for-real NHL contract. HOW. Luckily for the Flames he's backing up tonight?
