Ryan Fitzgerald (Boston College)
BC is off until the 27th when they'll take on Bowling Green University in the Three Rivers Classic tournament. Fitzgerald is currently in Minnesota, hoping to make the final roster for the U.S.'s World Junior Championship team. Here's what Chris Peters of United States of Hockey had to say about him:
Though he's played a lot of center over his career, Fitzgerald has played primarily on the left side at BC and the results have been strong so far. With 14 points in 14 games for the Eagles, Fitzgerald is making a rather smooth transition to college hockey. He's a bit on the smaller side at 5-9, 166, but he has pretty good wheels and some puck smarts as well. I think he's still a bubble candidate, but he has someone on the U.S. bench that is very familiar with his strengths and weaknesses in assistant coach Greg Brown (also an assistant at BC). A point-per-game as a freshman is nothing to sneeze at. I don't know if he has the goods to beat out the likes of Stefan Matteau, Adam Erne, Tyler Motte and Henrik Samuelsson for one of those wing spots, but a good camp could change things there. The U.S. has been a little more creative with their 13th forward spot in recent years, so there's potential for Fitzgerald in there, too.

Zane Gothberg (University of North Dakota)
North Dakota swept Northern Michigan winning 4-1 and 3-1 this week. Gothberg had a relatively light work load as he only faced 39 shots, of which he stopped 37. The good news is that Gothberg's now made five straight starts for NoDak.

Matt Grzelcyk (Boston University)
BU was upset by the other BU, Bentley University, at home 4-1 this week. Grzelcyk had five shots in the loss. On the bright side, he's now focusing on helping the U.S. retain its World Junior Championship gold. Here's Chris Peters on Grz:
The agonizing last cut from last year's team, Grzelcyk actually traveled with the U.S. squad to Ufa as an injury to Connor Murphy delayed the final selection. Team USA even played a game before the final decision was made. The U.S. brass decided to go with Patrick Sieloff over Grzelcyk. Now it looks like Grzelcyk, who got off to a bit of a slow start at BU, is poised for a big role on this team. He has seven points for BU this season. A very smart, smooth-skating defenseman, Grzelcyk is sound in both ends. He is a terrific puck mover and doesn't take too many risks out there. The 5-10, 175-pound rearguard thinks the game at a high level and is a natural when it comes to handling the pace the WJC throws at players. His poise is going to be a real asset to the U.S.

Mitch Dempsey (Kitchener Dutchmen)
This week the Dutchmen defeated Stratford 3-1 and lost to Waterloo 2-1. The team's streak ends after 25 consecutive wins. To add to that, this is their first loss since September 15th. That's insane. Dempsey does not play for the Kitchener Rangers, by the way.
