NCAA

Matt Benning (Northeastern University)

Northeastern was upset by Air Force 5-2 in the opening round of the Dartmouth tournament. Benning had an assist on Northeastern's second goal, but he also had zero shots and was on the ice for two Air Force goals in the first period.

Brian Ferlin (Cornell University)

Cornell defeated University of New Hampshire 4-2 and Maine in a shootout (1-1 was the score) to win the Florida College Classic tournament. Ferlin had the game winner in the game against UNH, a power play goal, and an assist on the lone goal in the Maine game.

Ryan Fitzgerald (Boston College)

BC defeated Bowling Green University 5-0 and Penn State 8-2 to win the Three Rivers Classic tournament in Pittsburgh. Fitzgerald was held without a shot in the first round, but had a goal and two assists against Penn State and was named third star of the final.

Zane Gothberg (University of North Dakota)

North Dakota was off this week. They'll return to action with exhibitions against Canadian schools on the 3rd and 4th.

BU was off this week. They'll return to action against Harvard on the 4th without Grzelcyk, who's over in Sweden with the US WJC team. Go America.

Colton Hargrove (Western Michigan University)

Western Michigan won a pair of OT games 3-2 over Michigan and 1-0 over Michigan Tech to win the Great Lakes Invitational held at Comerica Park. Hargrove played both games on the third line and managed to generate six shots in the tournament.

Rob O'Gara (Yale University)

Yale played an exhibition against the Russian Red Stars, winning 6-3 and a real NCAA game against Holy Cross, which they also won 4-1. O'Gara had a goal in the exhibition and was on the ice for two goals in the win over Holy Cross.

Ben Sexton (Clarkson University)

Clarkson lost both of its Catamount Cup games, 3-2 to Vermont and 3-1 against Lowell. Sexton contributed an assist against UVM and a power play goal against UML. He's continuing to score at nearly a point-per-game halfway through the college season.

Linus Arnesson (Djurgardens)

Djurgardens aka Animal Gardens aka Mesta Mästarna, Stockholms Stolthet, lost to Almtuna 2-1 this week. Arnesson did not play again, as he is representing Sweden at the World Junior Championship until January 5.

Anton Blidh (Frölunda)

Frölunda defeated Skellefteå 6-1 and lost 3-2 to Brynäs this week. Blidh had a power play assist on the opening goal of the loss. It's nice to see he's getting power play time despite the lack of production, which can be interpreted as a show of confidence in his offensive abilities.

Luleå split this week's games with a 2-0 loss to Färjestads and a 3-0 win over Leksand. Cehlarik is not with them as he is playing for Slovakia in the World Junior Championship.

Maxim Chudinov (SKA Saint Petersburg)

SKA found itself on both ends of a 2-1 result, defeating Severstal Cherepovets and losing to Salavat Yulaev Ufa this week. Chudinov's been playing top minutes for SKA, who are tied for second in goals allowed in the KHL, so he's doing a pretty good job in both ends.
