Let's just skip right to the third period, shall we? Matt Bartkowski's goal notwithstanding:
The first two-and-a-half sucked. Flat out. Down 4-1 to the Leafs? The LEAFS? Embarrassing and sad and I had a half-written rant about how this team can't DO this, ever.
Boy was I wrong!
9:18 into the third period, Nathan Horton's goal made it 4-2. It seemed like too little too late - but then, with under two minutes to goal and Tuukka Rask pulled, the IMPOSSIBLE happened.
(Well no actually not impossible /BU fan)
Milan Lucic pulled it to within one with 1:22 to go. And then, with a mere 51 seconds left:
OH MAN
OH MAN
OVERTIME
THANK YOU ST PATRICE
I think even chairelli was a little pumped
Okay so personally to this point I hadn't watched any of the game so I ran to a friend's house and MAN I AM SO GLAD I DID. Usually game 7 overtimes with the Bruins involved are...well. There's a few unfortunate ones that come to mind.
BUT HOW COULD THEY NOT COMPLETE THIS COMEBACK?
True enough, 6:05 into overtime, Patrice Bergeron put it home. I could cry.
Amazing work by a line that had struggled all series; look at Marchand and Seguin doing work around the net on that goal. Amazing.
Goodnight, sweet prince. By which I mean
GOLF LEAFS GOLF
SECOND ROUND HERE WE COME!!!!
