Without further ado, let's take a look back and laugh at some of his tweets from the last two weeks.
It all started May 14, the day after the Rangers took out Washington with a 5-0 final game, the night Boston came back to beat Toronto. Fischler came right out swinging:
#Rangers in five games vs. brittle #Boston. Why? Better goaltending; better defense; better forwards and #JohnTortorella has right buttons.
— Stan Fischler (@StanFischler) May 14, 2013
Gregory Campbell begs to differ about this one, Stan:
Apart from a better goalie and better defense, #Rangers will whip #Boston because of having a better fourth line than last year at this time
— Stan Fischler (@StanFischler) May 14, 2013
Everyone should commence reminding Stan about his beans tweet:
Repeat: #Rangers in five mostly because of goaltending and the emergence of #RickNash. If Boston wins the series, I eat beans for a week.
— Stan Fischler (@StanFischler) May 16, 2013
So then after Game 1, in which the Bruins took it to New York pretty hard:
Oops! Blueshirts have to win four in a row to make my call look good. Gotta go back to the goal and figure what went wrong. B's relentless.
— Stan Fischler (@StanFischler) May 17, 2013
Hey, #Rangers lost first two in #Washington. A comeback -- after two days rest -- won't be tough.
— Stan Fischler (@StanFischler) May 17, 2013
Of course not, Stan. Of course it won't be tough. You keep on keepin' on.
Stan seems to enjoy the word Beans:
Easily the most underrated aspect of the #Bruins success is one of my favorite NHL guys, #ClaudeJulien. I liked him in #NewJersey and Beans.
— Stan Fischler (@StanFischler) May 19, 2013
After Game 2, Stan stood unwavering in his Rangers fandom, and amended his pick to rangers in 6:
Whoops! Again. Looks like #Rangers are adopting beat #Washington strategy. Lose first two games; then go on to win series. Not to worry!
— Stan Fischler (@StanFischler) May 19, 2013
Considering Boston dominated possesion most of the series, uh, this one doesn't make a whole lot of sense...
If the arithmetic -- shots on goal, etc. -- means anything, #Rangers will do well at home. Sooner or later the power play will work.
— Stan Fischler (@StanFischler) May 20, 2013
Two games is "following a script"?
Since the #Rangers are closely following the #Washington series script, it'll be interesting to see how #Boston copes with MSG ice.
— Stan Fischler (@StanFischler) May 20, 2013
This isn't a tough call at all, Stan
If you were #ClaudeJulien would you keep #ToreyKrug on defense for Game Three? This is as starry a kid as I've seen in a while. Tough call.
— Stan Fischler (@StanFischler) May 20, 2013
nope. NOPE.
The overnight solution to this puzzle could tilt the #Boston-#NewYork series the #Rangers' way. The puzzle? Fixing the power play! Can do.
— Stan Fischler (@StanFischler) May 20, 2013
In which Stan beats this "repeat of the Caps series!!!1" narrative almost to death:
I feel that #JohnTortorella will have solved his power play problem tonight. #RickNash will pace his mates to victory. A reprise of the Caps
— Stan Fischler (@StanFischler) May 21, 2013
This is like that time someone called a goalie out for having "shaky hands" right before that goalie kicked ass. I feel like the Caps were involved.
#HenrikLundqvist superb in first, setting the stage for second period #Rangers breakout. Is ZdenoChara tiring? May be.
— Stan Fischler (@StanFischler) May 22, 2013
After Game 3: womp womp
If ever the expression, "finding a way to win" had meaning it was Boston's 2-1 triumph tonight. #Bruins did; #Rangers didn't. Rask: A-1.
— Stan Fischler (@StanFischler) May 22, 2013
"Fair and square" as opposed to what, Stan?
Back to the #Bruins who won it fair and square. I figured #Rangers goaltending, D and the #Nash, #Callahan, et. al. would give an edge. Nix.
— Stan Fischler (@StanFischler) May 22, 2013
So Stan latches onto the 1942 narrative for some inexplicable reason:
Plenty of historic precedent for a #Rangers comeback. Start with '42 #Leafs and '75 #Islanders. How about #Bruins blowing three game lead?
— Stan Fischler (@StanFischler) May 22, 2013
#MapleLeafs '42 comeback was launched with a major roster shakeup. Benching of #BradRichards could be portent of a restoration of '42 tale.
— Stan Fischler (@StanFischler) May 23, 2013
If what I hear is correct and #Tortorella is benching more than just #Richards, Torts is doing precisely what Leafs coach #HapDay did in '42
— Stan Fischler (@StanFischler) May 23, 2013
This is pretty incorrect, from game 4:
Early on #Bruins rookies look nervous. They can be exploited tonight by avid #Rangers forechecking. Good Blueshirts penalty kill.King OK.
— Stan Fischler (@StanFischler) May 23, 2013
#Rangers PP powerless again. But #Blueshirts attacking better. Bs defense making mistakes. After 0-0 first period, Bruins look beatable.
— Stan Fischler (@StanFischler) May 23, 2013
So up three games to one, a game in which Rask made two bad mistakes for the first time in a long time....and this tweet is a thing?
#Rask unbelievably bad. Bad. #Rangers come right. Bs better start worrying.
— Stan Fischler (@StanFischler) May 24, 2013
Has #Rask gotten the heebie-jeebies, or what? Now the Rangers should come back with the power play.
— Stan Fischler (@StanFischler) May 24, 2013
One more floperoo by #Rask or inexperienced #Bruins D or a lazy backcheck and Rangers can make this a game in the third. Wait and see.
— Stan Fischler (@StanFischler) May 24, 2013
As I predicted, Rask blows one, Stepan scores. Bs in disarray. Rangers start the miracle. #Boston panic now in effect. Rask and Chara fold.
— Stan Fischler (@StanFischler) May 24, 2013
Ugh.
What did I tell you -- a fourth-liner did the trick. #Rangers have #Bruins where they want them -- in Panics-vlle. #Rask won't be the same.
— Stan Fischler (@StanFischler) May 24, 2013
Tuukka Rask slipping on invisible banana peel on ice is latest in the endless collection of #Boston sports blunders. Blowing series next.
— Stan Fischler (@StanFischler) May 24, 2013
THIS ONE IS GREAT. WHAT THE HECK IS A RASK GASP
No matter how they conceal it, the #Bruins have to be concerned. 1. The Rask Gasp; 2. Poor series vs. Toronto; 3. Bs history of collapse.
— Stan Fischler (@StanFischler) May 24, 2013
There is such a thing as "karma" and right now the #Rangers have it. Whether the #Bruins can remove same in time, is #ClaudeJulien's concern
— Stan Fischler (@StanFischler) May 24, 2013
#JohnTortorella's insertion of a fourth "action" line also is a major upgrade for the #Rangers, negated 4th line for #Bruins. NY wins Game 5
— Stan Fischler (@StanFischler) May 24, 2013
Stan loves the Karma narrative too apparently
Reasons for #Bruins to worry: 1. Ghosts of '42 Red Wings; 2. Ghosts of '75 Penguins; 3. #TuukaRask heebie-jeebies; 4.The King; 5. R karma.
— Stan Fischler (@StanFischler) May 25, 2013
So yesterday, we arrived at Game 5.
#Jagr looking old. #Rangers 4th line proving brilliant distraction.
— Stan Fischler (@StanFischler) May 25, 2013
#Bruins fading. They need the break more than #Rangers. Cause for worry in Beantown.
— Stan Fischler (@StanFischler) May 25, 2013
Oh really
One more #Rangers goal could seal the deal the way #KingHenrik is focused. Nothing at all special about #Rask so far.
— Stan Fischler (@StanFischler) May 25, 2013
WELL THIS IS A SUDDEN CHANGE OF TUNE
#Bruins fourth line delivers. So far, decisive asset for the home club. Still a lot of hockey to go.
— Stan Fischler (@StanFischler) May 25, 2013
Series over in five. Thanks for playing, Mr. Fischler.
I picked Rangers in 5. What happened? I thought Goaltending would give Rs an advantage. Didn't Ditto defense. Bs kids filled the gap. more
— Stan Fischler (@StanFischler) May 26, 2013
I figured the #Rangers offense would be better. 4th line came too late. Overall, #Boston negated any @lundqvist advantage. Boston better.
— Stan Fischler (@StanFischler) May 26, 2013
(Torey Krug is now apparently "The Kid"?)
I believe that #Boston can beat Pitt. Better goalie; better defense (The Kid) and can defuse #SidneyCrosby, #EvMalkin & Company.
— Stan Fischler (@StanFischler) May 26, 2013
