Matt Benning (Northeastern University)

Trailing Providence with 30 seconds to go, Northeastern tied things up and then won in OT. They also defeated Lowell 4-1 at "Frozen" Fenway this week. Two huge wins for the Huskies. Matt Benning had the game winner, a power play goal in the game against Lowell. That's his second of the season.

Brian Ferlin (Cornell University)

Cornell had ice issues at its rink so its game against UMass on Friday was cancelled. Not postponed, cancelled.

Ryan Fitzgerald (Boston College)

BC defeated Providence 5-2 and tied Brown 3-3 this week. Fitzgerald began the season with 18 points in his first 18 games, but he's hit a bit of a slump, having been held without a point in five of his last six games.

Zane Gothberg (University of North Dakota)

North Dakota swept Colorado College 5-3 and 3-2 this week. Gothberg stopped 41 of 46 and allowed only goals at even strength on the weekend.

Matt Grzelcyk (Boston University)

BU lost to Dartmouth 4-2 and 7-3 to Maine in a game that never should have been played at Fenway this week. The good news is that Grzelcyk had a goal against Dartmouth and was named the game's 3rd star. He also received the most recent Joe Pereira Trophy. The bad news is Grzelcyk hurt himself in practice this week. He missed the Fenway game (unfortunate for a local kid) and will be out for an "extended period."

Colton Hargrove (Western Michigan University)

Western Michigan swept Miami 5-4 and 3-2 this week. Hargrove opened the scoring in the first game with a goal.

Rob O'Gara (Yale University)

Yale defeated arch-rival Harvard 5-1 in a game held at Madison Square Garden. O'Gara was on the ice for the first three Yale goals and he picked up an assist on the game winner. Good stuff for a guy not known for his offense.

Ben Sexton (Clarkson University)

Clarkson split a series against Merrimack College with a 3-2 win and a 4-0 loss. Sexton had an assist on the first goal in the win. He also had two more penalty minutes and is one back of the national lead in PIM.

Mitch Dempsey (Kitchener Dutchmen)

Kitchener's game on January 7 against Listowel was postponed. They also defeated Brantford 6-3 and lost to Cambridge 3-2 in a shootout. Dempsey did not play in either game. He's now missed three straight.

Linus Arnesson (Djurgardens)

Djurgardens aka Animal Gardens aka Mesta Mästarna, Stockholms Stolthet, defeated Timrå 4-0, lost 3-1 to Karlskoga and beat Björklöven 7-0. Arnesson made his return to the lineup against Karlskoga.
