Game Notes:

  • Right now, the Bruins are dealing with a three-game losing streak and an average of one goal a game. It's early in the season and the rookies need to get used to a fast-paced NHL. There's no need to panic, but if the Bs plan on winning this second Red Wings matchup, they have to start producing on offense.
  • Bruins signed Simon Gagne to a one-year contract on Tuesday. I'm optimistic that he'll bring veteran strength and the goal production the Bruins desperately need. "Experience is number one," said Julien of signing Gagne.
  • Last time Detroit beat Boston 2-1 and Howard showed exceptional goaltending. So, yeah. Boston needs to improve on offense. It's Boston's last chance to capitalize on a Red Wings team without Datsyuk. Let's do this.

Last Game in Fancy Stats:

This is....not cute. The Bruins controlled possession HARD at the beginning of the game, had a crappy second period, then had a decent third period - right until the last few minutes, when the Avs hammered away for the last-second goal.

NEVER FORGET:

If I keep watching last years highlights, is this season really happening?
